The Haunting of Sunshine Girl

In search of her father's house, Sunshine drives down a long gravel and dirt road, and comes to a house overgrown with foliage. It doesn't look like anyone lives there, but armed with the locket, Sunshine goes over to investigate.

Sunshine knocks on the door of the overgrown house, but no one answers. She walks around the perimeter, finds an old shed out back, then peers in a window and sees lots of old stuff inside.

Inside the house are piles of crazy old stuff: boxes, books, lots of empty jars, an old typewriter and radio, even a book labeled "Family Record" - but nothing's recorded in it.

The only place left is the basement, which is pretty dark but Sunshine has a flashlight. Then she sees something and goes racing out.

Racing out of the house, Sunshine realizes she dropped the locket somewhere, but then a mysterious man appears and jumps on her car. She guns the engine and he flips over the top of the vehicle.

Trapped with the mystery man between her and her car, Sunshine runs into the empty house and locks the door behind her. But where can she go next?

The mystery man is in the house with her. He has a bag over his head, but then pulls it off and chases Sunshine. She runs out of the house and gets to her car.

Sunshine reports that she called the police, who came to the house and didn't find anything. Apparently the house is owned by people back East; maybe the guy who was creeping around was the owner.

Sunshine meets a reputed expert in the paranormal at a local park and shows him the mysterious picture of the man and the child to get his opinion.

Sunshine reports that Creepy Lady has been spotted again. Mom is acting weird: she says they will stay in the house and she doesn't think there are any ghosts on the premises.

LeMaster calls to say Sunshine is in grave danger; "there is a haunting at play."

In an effort to learn more about the powers that haunt her home, Sunshine consults Alister Turnbull, noted expert in the paranormal.

Alister Turnbull explains about the lower auras of the spirit world and how spirits attempt to reach higher levels. But in order to find out whether there is potential trickery here or a real haunting, he must investigate further.

Alister Turnbull senses dark and sinister energy in the house. He can see two figures; "they're sightless, and yet they're looking over you." (Sunshine thinks he's weird.) Suddenly he rushes to the bathroom.

Turnbull is in the bathroom 10 or 20 minutes before he comes out with a bloody mouth. The restroom sink is bloody too. "Don't trust her," he repeatedly warns Sunshine about her mother. Kat throws him out of the house.

LeMaster, the paranormal expert who left the panicked voice mail (Kat calls him "the Idiot Guy"), has agreed to meet Sunshine again later in the day.

LeMaster says the photo links to a cult from the 1800s. It fears a demon that demands the sacrifice of a first-born daughter. Squelched by the police in the 1930s, the cult resurfaces occasionally. "Please do not call me again," he says.

Sunshine introduces "Uncle Tommy," who explains he's not really her uncle, but he grew up with Kat and lived in Sydney - when another plate crashes in the kitchen.

Uncle Tommy tries to bring Kat out of her trance by recounting past experiences they had together, but nothing seems to have any effect on her.

Sunshine decides to go to the forest with Victoria at night and perform the ritual to save her Mom.

Sunshine is in the forest at night with Victoria, who says she will banish the demon when it appears.

Stormy rain hits. Victoria has Sunshine kneel with a bag over her head; then Victoria picks up a knife. There's lightning, a growl, and something attacks Victoria. A man pulls the bag off Sunshine's head and says "they are releasing her."

Wrapped in a blanket, Sunshine reports that everyone's okay. "My name is Frances Jones, but I go by Jonesy."

Ready to return to Australia tomorrow, Uncle Tommy reveals that Kat once thought she had been abducted by aliens. She disappeared for two years, then turned up with a year-old child.
