It's Mel and Joe's first Christmas as a couple, which leads to a competition over whose family ornament should take the prestigious top spot on the tree.

When their honeymoon to Tahiti gets canceled due to Mel's broken leg, Joe surprises her with a cabin getaway. But their dream vacation quickly becomes a nightmare. Meanwhile, Lennox tries to hide her relationship with Marco.

Cool stepmom Aunt Mel is forced to choose between following Joe's wishes and keeping a secret for Dani.

Mel's thrilled when bestselling author of the novel "Love and Bondage," visits her book club. Nicole overhears Joe criticize her work, and ends up trying to seduce him. Lennox discovers Zander and McKenna are secretly dating.

Joe gets a new job as a correspondent for "Wake Up, Toledo!", a local early morning TV show, that requires him getting up early every day, which puts a strain on his relationship with Mel.

Mel's father and Joe's mother hit it off; Lennox and Zander explore being "friends with benefits."

After being frozen in an avalanche on a ski trip, Mel and Joe thaw out 100 years in the future.

Joe goes all out for a birthday gift for Mel that she doesn't like.

On a family game night, questions and answers lead to a breakdown of Mel/Joe's and Lennox/Zander's relationships.

Mel and Joe gear up to announce her congressional campaign, but Joe worries that the stress is causing Mel to be ill.

When Mel and Joe receive unexpected news, Mel doubts that she can still run for congress.
