The arrival of a new person to the settlement helps settle tensions among the community. But is the softly-spoken Alistair really all he seems, and why is Hubert so eager to get rid of him?

When Hubert Goss is spurned by Mina, he spreads rumours out of spite that the eccentric lady is a witch. The problems begin when, one by one, the rest of the community start to believe him.

Charles and Greg are trying to bring other community leaders together, but their negotiations are complicated by the presence of a sniper who is targetting young women.

When one of the community members reveals himself to be a parson, the idea of having a Sunday Service is touted. However, it causes conflict in a group who wonder if there's a need for religion in a post-pandemic world.

Charles and Pet are on an expedition when they encounter two sick travellers. Taking them to the nearest place to treat them, they find themselves in a settlement ran like a military organisation, where they may never be allowed to leave.

Mina is attracted to an elderly man she meets on a river barge and arranges to bring him lunch in exchange for boots for the community. However, when the barge returns, the man is nowhere to be seen, and a new pair have taken his place.

Arthur begins to show signs of illness, while a new group are quarantined due to a new strain of flu. Their leader, Mark Carter, has plans to take over as leader of the community.

Charles is thrilled when Sally, one of the new girls, is pregnant. However, his suggestions that more of the girls get pregnant to ensure the survival of humanity isn't met with a positive reaction.

A hot air balloon crash lands near the settlement, providing answers and more questions. With the discovery that there are energy facilities in Norway, a new sense of hope is provided - but who will make the journey?
