Helm's investigation of the identity of an adopted young woman leads to murder and an elusive former movie Queen.

Matt Helm heads to Las Vegas where a multi-million dollar poker games is to be held. But after arrival the sponsor of a mathematical genius is found dead and Matt works to solve the murder.

A diamond theft goes awry and the two partners in crime split up. Wounded Jed hides out with his sister, a nurse, Meanwhile his partner in crime Paul asks an old friend for help: Matt Helm.

There's a contract out on Matt's ex-colleague Karen Ashley. She goes into hiding and asks Helm for help. But the hit man on her case, Pike, develops a personal grudge against Matt.
