For their first team challenge, the contestants cook for one hundred marines and their families.

The contestants were given sixty minutes to prepare a dish using a live Dungeness crab.

In their first individual challenge, the contestants are required to cook fresh Sculpin fish for professional food critics Jeffrey Steingarten, Tanya Steel, and Barbara Fairchild.
