Bossy Aunt Agatha orders Bertie to go to Deverill Hall and woo Gertrude Winkworth. Gussie Fink-Nottle is due to go to the hall to impress Dame Daphne, Gertrude's mother and godmother to his beloved Madeleine Bassett.
