Judith Collet, a pyrotechnician, is killed by a firework rocket she was launching. For several months Judith was hiding a secret. Where did she go two evening per week? Did she have a lover? Had her husband found out? Was there a connection with the promotion she had turned down?

The body of Patricia Raynaud has been found near a bauxite quarry. The victim worked for the company operating the quarry, a quarry with the particularity that all the employees are its only shareholders. The young woman had been voted-in as director three months earlier.

The president of the Montpellier Botanical Institute is found dead. A year earlier the institute had already been the scene of another crime: arson. Paul tells Léa that he had worked on this previous case, but there had been a procedural error. Did he make a mistake a year ago?

White gold: Xavier Martel, wine-grower, has an attack whilst driving his car. Having recently the joined emergency services as a volunteer fireman, Thomas is first on the scene. The man whispers that he's been poisoned and dies in his arms.

The abandoned village: The businessman Vincent Restier is killed in the office of the mayor to whom he was deputy. After twenty-five years' absence he had returned with a grand project for a leisure complex that would breathe new life into the village. Had someone wanted to stop his plans to become a reality?

The woman with two faces: Antonin, one of Paul's best friends, calls him in the middle of the night: his wife has disappeared; he thinks she's going to throw herself off the bridge. Arriving at the said bridge, Paul sees her fall, powerless. A case that seems tragically banal. But was it really a suicide?
