Psychiatrist Susan DeRuzza returns from a book tour to find her husband cheating on her. Her belief in marriage is turned upside down.

Jack recommends his married lover Claire to Susan to save her troubled marriage. Artie hires his mother to be the new secretary.

Susan and Joey agree to therapy but he's a no show. Artie becomes an exalted one.

Michael is spending the night with his father and Susan is left alone. She doesn't know what to do and stays at the office. She inadvertently breaks up Jack's second date and they inadvertently spend the night together.

Jack's new client is Colonel Sunshine, a former children's Saturday morning TV host and Susan's hero. He actually needs Jack for a copyrights case. Artie is overjoyed to have a new football player client.

Ronnie is unwilling to go to her granddaughter's bat mitzvah when she discovers that her ex-husband has been invited. Artie asks Susan to help. Sean claims to have been taken on a spaceship. Jack is spiraling in his gambling.
