Time Team - Season 20 (2012)

The birthplace of horse racing. Search for the earliest archaeological traces of the sport of kings. Dig in the historic town for the remains of King Charles II's racing stables - arguably the world's first stables dedicated for racing.

Tony and the team are in the village of Beadnell on the Northumbrian coast, to explore an unusual promontory, from which mysterious fragments of human bone have emerged over the last few years.

Tony and the team are in Swansea. The city used to lead the world in copper smelting, but today there's almost nothing to be seen of this unique heritage. They team investigate one of the very first copper works, White Rock.

The Time Team visit Earls Colne in Essex to try and uncover traces of a 12th Priory founded by the De Vere family. Now a luxury home, the owner hopes the Time team can explain many of the anomalies in the grounds.

800 years ago the people of Kenfig on the south coast of Wales thought they had built the perfect town. The town appears to have been a thriving commercial success but then it vanished, leaving just a few castle walls to mark its existence.

The Time Team visit a set of Roman ruins in Caerlon in South Wales. The area was always known for it's extensive construction work, but what the Time Team uncover that changes everything.

For generations a family of Somerset farmers have been wondering if there was ever actually a castle on top of 'Castle Hill'. Records show there was a Norman castle in the area, but they are not clear about exactly where.

Sherwood Forest. Residents of Clipstone believe ruins in a field relate to tales of Robin Hood and Bad King John. The history books describe these walls as the remains of a royal hunting lodge. But the locals believe it was a palace.

Tony and the Time Team review past episodes and look at the changing face of death and burial in Britain throughout the ages.

Three of the team propose their favourite finds, in a pub of course. Except Mick proposes the Big Dig, a nation wide dig of test pits by the nation.
