Feeling stressed out Carol and Sandra are prescribed tranquillizers by the doctor. Then Carol's father returns from London, to where he ran off five years earlier with a younger bus conductress. Carol and Sandra manage to get Carol's parents reconciled - after a fashion - and feel a sense of accomplishment and calm, so they throw away the tranquillizers. Then they hear that Carol's 16 year old sister Barbara has run off to London with her boyfriend and reach for the pills.
