Inspector Cameron becomes involved in a discovery of what appears to be the mummy of a Viking. While investigating, he finds himself dealing with Madam Zorah, a medium.

Inspector Cameron responds to a young boy's plea to save his father who is accused of murder at the mine where he works. The town's residents are in no mood to wait for a judge to get there.

Each of four employees of an eccentric, wealthy semi-invalid has an interest in adding spice to her life by loading a casserole with curry. After her death, all four raid the medical office for her post-mortem stomach, stored in a jar.
