As outsiders encroach upon the camp, Ian's sister leaves when she realizes she's no longer Ian's first priority. Caught between family and duty, Ian must make a decision. Mason and Luna contend over camp politics.

Chris reappears and relates his findings from outside the camp perimeter and learns about the outsiders. Though his front runners attempt to enter peacefully, the foretold militia leader finally appears and manipulates his way into camp.

How did Drek and Nukte become Kane's front runners? Will Drek's desire for influence and freedom be earned under Kane's tutelage? What are the stakes for Nukte?

Ian returns to find Luna has let the outsiders in the camp in exchange for saving Ian's sister.

As Ian seeks to make peace with Serena, some of the survivors get caught up in Kane's plot. Mason and Luna each do what they think is best, though they can't agree. Drek struggles with his position beneath Kane.
