Strangers - Season 5 (1982)

A number of extremist politicians die in mysterious circumstances. The inter-City Squad investigates the academic world of Cambridge and the upper reaches of the law.

The Inter-City Squad are taking part in a weekend seminar on urban terrorism. A hotel full of policemen should be a safe place, but a senior female police officer is murdered by a crooked fellow police officer.

When some coffins are stolen but no one informs the police, the Inner City Squad find themselves going undercover in a jazz club to expose an international smuggling ring.

Peter Mollett - known as the Sandman - acted as an agent smuggling stolen art treasures, often in coffins. A rival gang headed by Gail Merrian. Finbar Malone and Brendan O'Halloran hope to cash in on his lucrative trade - but the Inner City Squad are also interested. Bulman retires to a life of ease with his ladyfriend - leaving his gloves behind.
