Nemo sees an opportunity to strike at the Phantom Empire via the rivalry between Metallic and Admiral Maalko when he makes a temporary alliance with the latter.

The crew of the Nautalus discover the Dark Stone, a counter-agent to the Stone of Solara, on a dead planet once Solara's sister planet.

Nemo and the crew of the Nautalus return to Earth to aid the Terran resistance against the Phantom Empire when the Master Phantom decides to destroy a planetary landmark--the Statue of Liberty.
