Requiem from the Darkness - Season 1 (2003)

While separated from Mataichi, Momosuke encounters an alluring temptress named Oyoshi. But Momosuke soon discovers Oyoshi's father, Matajuro, harbors an unnatural desire for her.

Momosuke stares death in the face, but manages to survive and find his way to Chojiro Shioya's mansion. Chojiro's staff slowly nurses Momosuke back to health, but he soon realizes his memories of the previous days has magically disappeared.

On their travels, Momosuke and Mataichi randomly join a puppet theater troupe. Momosuke is forced to investigate when they realize a series of street killings seem to be following the troupe.

In an attempt to uncover the reasons behind the strange happenings on Katabiraga Street, Momosuke travels to Kyoto to gather intelligence from Mr. Fushimiya.

Momosuke is abruptly summoned back to Edo by his older brother, Gunhachiro Yamaoka, and is immediately shaken upon his arrival when he learns a bizarre event has taken place.

After being executed for the third time, we learn Giemon from Inarizaka is not what he seems.

Momosuke is petitioned to help a Nagoya shipping mogul find his bride who mysteriously disappeared on their wedding night.

After letting Shiragiku escape in Nagoya, Momosuke is unable to find his companion Mataichi. When he gets a tip from Kyogoku Tavern, Momosuke races to Sanuki to track down the elusive Mataichi and his supernatural band of characters.

After Momosuke encounters a "Ship Ghost" and is left in dispair, his lament only increases when a former member of the Kitabayashi clan explains the curse of the "Cape of Seven."

Momosuke tracks down Mataichi in a town of tragedy finally tracks down Mataichi in the town under Kitabayshi Castle's domain. When tragedy strikes the town, how will Momosuke deal with the disaster?
