Mama - Season 6 (1954)

Nels organizes his neighborhood pals into a musical group and they practice at the Hansen home. This perturbs Katrin who has a new boyfriend who likes classical music. Mama must try and make her children happy.

Dagmar rebels and informs the family she's tired of wearing sister Katrina's hand me down. Dagmar hopes the budget will allow a new dress for her graduation.

Katrin becomes interested in women who are fighting for the right to vote. Despite scoffing from others Katrin's interest in suffrage grows and Mama encourages her daughter.

Mama is the topic of gossip which she is seen being very friendly to a man who is not Papa.

Aunt Jenny decides to start dressing T.R. in the fanciest clothes, making him the object of bullying. The Hansens feel they must step in and save the boy from Jenny's good intentions.

Nels has agreed to be best man for a friend at his wedding. But Nels gets so nervous that Mama and his pal have to work to get the young Hansen through the ceremony.

Dagmar asks for a raise in her allowance and when the request is refused she takes action. Dagmar decides to offer dancing classes to the neighborhood. Mama and Papa are intrigued.

A doctor advises Mama to develop interests other than family and home. Mama decides to start a high minded literary group.

Dagmar is over the moon as she's to become a full member of the choir. The family is excited for her but the joy evaporates when World War I breaks out.

The office where Katrin works is having a contest for fastest typist. Katrin thinks she can win so the family pools their cash so Katrin can practice getting better.

Papa hires a young Norwegian man as a carpenter apprentice. But when Mama and Papa hear the lad sing 'Bless This House' the two try to persuade the boy to pursue music.

Katrin's boss takes a fancy to her but the interest isn't reciprocated. Katrin fears if she doesn't date the older man, she'll lose her job. Katrin turns to Mama for advice.

Nels participates in an amateur boxing match and prevail. His fraternity brothers think if he fights in a money bout they can fix up their residence. Nels isn't so sure.

Ingeborg has been asking Aunt Trina and Uncle Gunnar for a dog but her requests are denied. Ingeborg decides to give a canine as a present when a gift giving occasion presents itself, solving her dilemma.

Ingeborg's fondness for sweets causes turmoil in the Hansen household.

Nels and his school chums are assigned to perform in a play. Nels finds himself liking it so much he imagines a future career as an actor. Mama urges caution.

T.R. and Ingeborg compete for the same prize in a church function.

Dagmar is invited by a classmate to accompany him to the movies on Friday night. The idea of Dagmar already dating hadn't occurred to anyone and all the family has an opinion.

Cousin Karsten arrives for a visit and announces a goodly sum of money has appeared in his bank account. The Hansen are happy for his good fortune but Mama is suspicious over the mysterious cash.

T.R.'s class are asked to help in the war effort by knitting a single square for an afghan blanket. T.R. has trouble completing the task and asks Mama for assistance.

Because of politics the job of Dagmar's best and favorite teacher is threatened. Mama rallies her friends and neighbors to take on the establishment.

Aunt Jenny asks Nels to take a girl from Minnesota on a date. After he agrees, Nels is afraid the young woman is unattractive and tries to get out of it. The night of the date everyone is stunned by the visitor's beauty.

A film scout sees Ingeborg and tells Aunt Trina her daughter has a potential movie career. But first he wants to have the girl take expensive lessons and starstruck Trina agrees.

T.R. wants to earn money to purchase Aunt Jenny a nice birthday gift. Teddy thinks a a shoeshine boy would be the easiest job but learns differently.

As Dagmar approaches her commencement day Mama recollects sentimental moments of her youngest daughter's childhood.

An old friend of Katrin's is hired where she works. The girl prefers to goof off and Katrin feels obliged to cover for her pal. Mama intervenes, explaining to an exhausted Katrin she is doing the young woman no favors.

Dagmar is excited when she's asked to join what is considered the best sorority. Dagmar finds out her best friend was excluded which leaves her with a difficult decision. Mama offers advice on what to do.

A rival firm keeps under bidding Papa's boss leaving not enough work at the business. Hansen's employer urges him to take a job at the rival but Papa believes in loyalty, leaving him unsettled as to what to do.

Dagmar wants to look extra special at a dance. She takes Mama's brooch without asking and is having a wonderful time until the jewelry vanishes. A tearful Dagmar doesn't know how she'll explain to her family.

Ingeborg and T.R. figure out a way to make money. The two kids attach wheels to wooden boxes and sell them as scooters to neighborhood children. Things go unfortunately wrong.

Nels and Katrins continue their usual sibling squabbles to Mama's exasperation. It Nels who Katrin turns to though when a 1st date goes badly and she needs a sympathetic shoulder to cry on.

Papa belongs to the Sons of Norway and annually they put on a pageant. The chief honor is portraying Eric the Red and Papa thinks he is to be chosen. The rest of the family is anxious in case he's overlooked.

T.R. is excited about getting a detective kit and wants to try it out. An opportunity presents itself when Dagmar is accused of theft by a rival sorority. T.R. is on the case.

A fellow student calls Ingeborg a foreigner and she comes home distraught. Mama heads to the school to explain to the teacher and class what it means to be an American.
