Compo accidentally discards his long treasured "gift" from Nora Batty. Seymour demonstrates his new home security device.

Seymour has a new invention for men and volunteers Compo to test the product, which causes minor havoc through the village.

Seymour tempts Compo to play guinea pig in his latest invention endeavor by giving him the title "executive in charge of testing", and promising to invite Nora Batty to the public demonstration.

Compo's craving for an ice cream prompts Seymour to design an vendor's side car cooler to put Compo into business.

Wally Batty and Howard are confined to their homes by their wives. Seymour, Norman and Compo attempt to liberate them for a few hours.

Norman is visited by teenage missionaries. Seymour is given the task of selling tickets to the church charity costume presentation of "The Tales of Beatrix Potter".

Wally's war-buddy and fellow pigeon racer Eli makes an appearance, and clears the pub; Compo pretends to be Wally so Nora won't be upset that he stopped to chat with Eli; Seymour sets Edie up with his own version of a garbage-disposal.

The village pedestrians and motorists are in peril as Seymour's sister Edie tries to learn to drive after having failed several driver tests.

Seymour has Compo test his latest invention - wind powered roller skates.

Norman receives news from the United States that an old friend pasted away six months ago and the widow is about to remarry.

Compo, Clegg and Seymour happen upon a somewhat wiley tramp, who persuades them to help him rescue his childhood donkey (from better days), from a field. In fact the tramp wants to fix the 'donkey derby' at the local garden fete.
