Katja and Mathias take photos on a construction site. They fool around with a pistol that Katja found in her father's house. Suddenly an accident occurs: A shot is fired and accidentally hits a bum who is on the premises.

Elmar Baumann, single, former owner of a jewels business, is stabbed in his villa. When Marc and Rex arrive at the crime scene, Rex realizes that the victim is still alive.

A half-burned body is found in the furnace in an empty factory. Also Rex finds a white feather and a dead mouse at the site.
