An expedition of seven men leaves Augsburg in 1648. After Bohemia, the group makes contact with the local Zaporozhian Cossacks in Ukraine. A wedding turns bloody and Wolff puts the whole mission in jeopardy. A disguised companion joins in.

After escaping the Tsar's soldiers, the arctic tundra in Siberia presents another challenge. Kilian is injured, but the group presses on to the garrison town of Yakutsk. They're caught in the middle of Tsar's governor and Siberian Tatars.
