Mandy organises a barbecue and invites everyone except Steve and Sid. Karen is caught in a compromising position, while Richard is overwhelmed by jealousy at the revelation that Jane has gone away with Robert, and sets off in hot pursuit, determined to tell her how he feels.

Richard and Jane's relationship gets off to a good start, but Mandy's marriage teeters on the verge of collapse now that husband Dave has found out about her affair with Steve. Meanwhile, Lillian confesses to worrying about son Barry, and Karen is dumped by her married lover.
