Jobs are on the minds of nearly all the Kelly household, with Martin being offered permanent employment away from home. Nudge has a new job at the local bank, and Simon is still deciding what he wants to do.

Debbie has boyfriend troubles, while Martin battles Telecom. Nudge and Simon pursue a new hobby - basketball - with surprising results.

Simon, in his search for employment, has trouble coming to terms with the way he is expected to dress for an interview. Martin, fed up with Betty not taking telephone messages, invests in an answering machine.

Martin and Debbie take surfing lessons from Simon and Nudge, with Martin coming off a bit worse for wear. Jenny has problems at school when she finds herself without a best friend.

Martin is hotly pursued by a very beautiful female client, much to the disgust of the rest of the family, who think he is two-timing Sergeant Anne.

Stan arrives unexpectedly from Walgett, convinced Betty is seeing another man. Jenny's elation at being allowed to get a new pet turns to horror when the pet goes missing.

Betty is studying Japanese for her role in a play for the Musical Society. Meanwhile, Nudge hears bad news about his job at the bank and Debbie gives lessons to Simon on job interview techniques.

Debbie goes into the T-shirt designing business with the aim of making a fortune. Simon and Nudge find that their new job at the golf course has its dangerous side.

Simon tries to improve Nudge's love life by giving him lessons in the art of writing letters. Betty, horrified after finding one of the letters, thinks Nudge is in love with her.

Martin is called away for the weekend on a business trip. Meanwhile, Simon and Debbie consider it a perfect opportunity to throw a party for their friends.

Nudge devises a "get rich quick" scheme with Debbie. Meanwhile, Martin feels he has been neglecting Jenny and decides to do something about it.

Debbie's fortune turns to misfortune when Martin tells her she cannot go to Paris to study art. Meanwhile, Simon and Nudge have their hands full with some Swedish carpentry.

When Betty's father falls ill in Walgett, she gets a surprise visit from Stan Hickey. Meanwhile, Debbie, Simon and Nudge go on a fast to raise money for starving people.

The Kelly family starts worrying about Betty's safety after a wave of burglaries in the neighbourhood. Meanwhile, Nudge and Simon have safety worries of their own: It's Ladies' Day at the golf course.

Martin is concerned about the trashy love novels that Betty is reading, and even more concerned when he learns Jenny is reading them too.

Simon surprises everybody by announcing his engagement, which is only the beginning of a nightmare for Martin.

Betty and Jenny decide to redecorate Martin's office. Martin meanwhile, is very concerned about the new man in Debbie's life.

After Jenny is caught being the bully - Nudge decides to teach her how to be a lady. Betty, meanwhile, decides her fortune lies in writing a romantic best-seller.

While Betty struggles with the intricacies of shorthand, Simon and Nudge confront Debbie's new boyfriend.

The great day has arrived - Nudge and Simon have found the car of their dreams. Jenny meanwhile, has her first taste of democracy in action as she and Betty go on strike.

When a homeless Nudge, a rotten green VolksWagen, a frantic Debbie, a very confused Betty, and an irate and rattled Martin all create catastrophe and confusion in the Kelly household, the situation is normal.

Debbie has the perfect plan to make it to the social pages after the Black and White Ball. Simon meantime, unhappy at his job, decides to resign.

Betty is distraught after receiving a chain letter in the mail. Meanwhile, Martin, Simon and Nudge are all terribly impressed with Debbie's new date.

The big day has finally arrived. Nudge is moving into his own flat, and asks Debbie for advice on how to impress girls.

Martin becomes infatuated with the new woman in the street as he goes out of his way to help her settle in.

With enormous pressure from the kids, Martin organises a date with a woman he has met at the local supermarket.

Debbie becomes concerned when she learns the identity of Jenny's "secret" friend. Meanwhile, Betty prepares for her weekend at the snow, while Simon and Nudge decide on who to take to a formal party.

Nudge and Betty go into business together in an attempt to end all their financial worries. Meanwhile, Martin realises a life-long dream.

The true test of friendship is somewhat strained as Nudge and Simon continue to argue over sharing the car. And Grandma arrives, as usual unannounced, with a surprise for the family.

With howls of protest from the kids, Martin decides he's had enough of their VW taking up room in the garage and decides to sell it.

When Nudge, Simon and Debbie hatch a plot for a trip up the river, they don't account for Dad's cunning. Meanwhile, Stan Hickey's mysterious comings and goings have Betty in a tizz.

Betty believes she is having an affair with the local greengrocer. Meanwhile, Simon and Nudge decide to repair the family Volvo.

Debbie is having trouble with her vision while Betty's antics with the answering machine are driving Martin out of his mind.

Simon, Nudge and Debbie learn the path to inner contentment, while Martin is having troubles with a cantankerous neighbour.

Simon and Nudge set out to try and impress their boss after hearing that there will be sackings. Meanwhile, Jenny becomes very clothes conscious and Debbie wishes that Betty would do the same.

With Martin's challenge to a chess match, there's more at stake than a mere game. Meanwhile, Debbie gets a lesson from Jenny on the law of the jungle.
