After losing all of his court cases, Lawyer Hancock is assigned to defend Sid.

Hancock becomes addicted to participating in competitions. Most of the time he loses, but when he starts to win, he finds that he cannot benefit from his prizes, chiefly due to Sid's machinations.

Hancock discovers that the house Sid sold him backs onto an airfield.

Hancock allows Sid to book the acts for his Christmas spectacular.
