Once Upon A Time in Lingjian Mountain - Season 1 (2019)

Wang Lu's Spirit type and strength astounds everyone but the results are not as expected.

2 years later and Wang Lu tops all of his classes but is unable to perform any spells or cultivate more than his mind. The Inner Circle disciples come out of seclusion and conflicts arise. The 7th elder returns.

Wang Lu prepares for a death match between himself and another Successor Disciple - despite him not having any cultivation yet. Unbeknownst to him, his master has been working on his behalf even though it seems she ignores his situation.

Wang Wu admits some efforts she had been making while Wang Lu was unaware but when he woke and heard her he didn't believe any of them. Feng Ling reveals part of Wang Wu's machinations. Wang Wu promises to start teaching him immediately.

Wang Wu's methods of training are brutal and Wang Lu suffers greatly. Wang Lu ponders how to uncover a mole and protect Hai YunFan from attack while in the sect.

Trying to delay the end of the quest, Wang Lu and Hai Yunfan try to deter the others. Hai Yunfan is targeted by assassins but Wang Lu interferes. A surprising relation appears and we learn more about Han Yunfan.

Wang Lu brings Hai Yunfan out of his depression with an attempt at sincerity. Wen Bao seeks training from Wang Lu, who uses him for his own benefit. Wang Wu seeks out the General for reasons of her own.

Wang Lu gets his buddies into a spiritual area so he can cultivate but they are interrupted by Master ZhiFeng who captures them believing one of them to be a demon. Zhifeng has a grievance to settle with Wang Wu.

Zhi Feng refuses to accept the verdict of the Spirit Blade Sect's elders so Wang Wu steps in and taunts him into a duel. Wang Lu sets up a betting station but tidbits about Wang Wu's past and accomplishments are revealed along the way.

Zhi Feng's weaknesses and alliances are revealed but his granduncle is not pleased. Wang Lu pushes Wang Wu to accept Hai Yunfan as a disciple and help him rid himself of the restriction placed inside him by his brother.

Wang Lu seeks specific members and skills for his team but his plans go awry even after careful consideration. Wang Wu takes him to a sword graveyard to select a weapon for the journey but is dismayed at his choice.

Ling'er leaves the mountain, to her father's lament. Wang Wu sends off Wang Lu without telling him who the fourth on his team is. Heeding Wang Wu's advice, they head to Wang Lu's village first.

Wang Lu defeats the cult in Wang Village and expects more to come, making their task easier. Wang Lu recognizes one of the saintesses - but she doesn't recognize him. Liu Lixian is easily distracted by food.

Wang Lu helps XiaoLu remember then enlists Wang Wu to seduce the local sect leader. When that fails he finds an alternate. Liu Lixian's memory and personalities become a concern when Han YunFan notices the difference.

Wang Lu makes new plans involving the doppelganger and the captured He Yun. Zhou Ming Rui takes over Qiangling and threatens XiaoLan. Wang Wu gets mad when she finds out what the doppelganger is doing.

Wang Lu's plans for his new sect are go well until a story scandalizes the audience. Han Yunfan and Liu Lixian may have a connection that neither remembers clearly.

Wang Lu's sob story resonates with Hai Yunfan's fuzzy memories. Liu Lixian is kidnapped. A miscalculation reveals the cult leader but also puts Wang Lu in greater danger. The Empress doesn't recall Liu Lixian.

Ye Li suggests using the rare blood of Wang Lu and Hai Yunfan in an upcoming ritual. Wang Wu denies Wang Lu's request to save them. The evil cult's purpose and plans are revealed.

Ye Li makes a last request. Liu Lixian recovers but is held responsible for Ye Li's crimes until an advocate steps forward. Wang Wu chases after a stolen treasure leaving Wang Lu to face the Elders who have learned of his new sect.

Wang Lu's mother arranges his marriage. Wang Wu investigates the mystery behind the broken seal. AiXin sect is legalized and handed over to Elder He. Wang Lu says goodbye to his friends in his own way and sends them off.

A vegetarian tourist city - and Ling'er's romance.

Wang Wu wakes up in Hai Tian Kuo's manor. Xu Ze Fang confronts him for his brother's death. Wang Lu still finds the Xue household suspicious. A desperate mother brings the police and accuses Wang Lu of kidnapping her daughter.

Wang Lu suspects the Xue family of being wolf demons, but knowing Hai Yunfan's prejudice against demons is unwilling to share that information until he has more evidence toward their nature. A Miao returns.

Hai Yunfan is injured when he goes off on his own. Ling'er believes Xue Boren is sincere. Wang Lu is concerned that Wang Wu hasn't replied or made an appearance but she remains at Hai Tian Kuo's manor.

Ling'er gets angry when Wang Lu tells her what he suspects about the local sect. She drinks the talisman-laced water. Hai Yunfan is desperate to make Wang Lu understand that demons can't be trusted.

Wang Wu turns up just after the danger is over and gleefully takes the treasure. Wang Lu covers up the brothers' identities because of Hai Yunfan's prejudice. Neither reveals the truth of the other to either Xue Boren or Ling'er.

Xue Boren is conflicted about which wife he will keep after the wedding but an interruption sets off an unfortunate chain of events.

Death, Rebirth and Demon cores. Seeking peace, being kidnapped and making powerful sacrifices for your choices. Lastly, friends going their separate ways and sought-for paths diverted.

In pursuit of Ling-er's kidnapper, Wang Wu and Wang Lu are led back to a site of painful memory for Wang Wu. Too many clues point to a particular sect. Wang Wu gets serious.

Wang Wu, as acting sect leader, and Wang Lu devise a plan to find Hai Yunfan who they believe was kidnapped by Shengjing sect and uncover what they are hiding. Meanwhile, Wang Wu's prejudices against the sect are not subtle.

The games begin - with a sleight of hand trick most of the contestants are eliminated. While disciples are facing the challenges, the sect leaders comment and bicker as they provide the power to keep it going.

The games continue and Shengjing disciples continue to be thrashed by Wang Lu's intellect - while passing the challenges strengthens the Shengjng sect leader's control over the other sect leaders outside the artifact.

Friendship consists of ties - those that bind it and make it stronger and those that rub, irritate and weaken it.

Ouyang Shang give Wang Lu advice and makes a request. Hai Yunfan makes a choice and has to ponder what he has learned. Ling'er returns to the inn. A new threat is revealed. Old paths are ended and new paths begin as life goes on.
