At midnight, the players take a break to raise a glass to the New Year andtheir good fortune -those who still believe in it, in any case. The others are left with their good resolutions and the hope of a miracle.

Gambling outside casinos is not allowed, so a poker game with half amillion at stake is definitely illegal. Why, then, is there a cop at the table?

It takesfive minutes to learn to play poker, but a whole lifetime to master the game. When you're a natural, like the young Julie, you can skip a few stages.

Nothing is harder than eliminating thepeople you love. Poker is a game in which emotions have no place. Fantasies, however, are allowed.

Basically, when playing poker, you should only be staking your money, not your future or your life. Is it really the case that only a few hours age, the players were wishing each other a Happy New Year?
