Khristo Dimitrov - Hindo was born on January 28, 1953 in Kotel, an important center of the Bulgarian Renaissance. When he was four, the family relocated in Burgas, a significant port city on the Black Sea coast. There, in 1972, upon Hindo's graduation from the Maritime Technical School his father presented him with a small video camera. His father's gift influenced Hindo's future - not before a long and tumultuous period of searching for his identity. He applied four consecutive times for a spot in the National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia; in spite the rejections he kept learning: he studied literature and photography, worked as a fitter and turner in a metal shop, then sailed for a bit longer as a ship mechanic, taught - on an emergency credential - literature and art in a country schoolhouse, and even studied screen arts in the city of Lodz, Poland. Eventually, in 1983, Hindo completed his college education as a cinematographer and a few years later defended his degree with the feature film Discovering Troy (Miroslav Stoyanov, screenplay and director). His professional film career includes experiences as a cinematographer, cinematographer, screenplay writer, actor, director, and recently an editor and sound technician. Additionally, Hindo has taught full courses and seminars on film and TV studies. He is also the author of two published books: The Stimulus to Lie without Lying, on the theory, principles, and practices in documentary film making, and the philosophical monograph Cognition and Music. Hindo has presented a few solo exhibitions including The Mirror of a Lady, a unique exhibition-cum-performance synergy of visual and performing arts as the dancer Petya Popova is both the model for the visual pieces and the performer of the dance show. Now divorced, Hindo has been married once to the film director Malina Petrova. For the last twenty-two years Hindo has lived in Burgas where he carries a self-imposed semi-hermetic solitary lifestyle, still shaping his identity with a camera in his hands.
