The daughter of an engineer she was educated at Thornbank School, Bexhill, Sussex. She abandoned her acting career soon after war started to be a nurse. After peace was declared she resumed her stage career in rep. Her first West End break came when she took over the lead from Moira Lister in Birthday Honours. She was married with a daughter and lived in Chelsea.
